Welcome to Forget-Me-Not Clubs, Swansea

The Forget Me Not Dementia Day Clubs were set up in Swansea in October 2010 to help people suffering from all types of dementia and its effects and their carers.

Our aim is to hold day clubs for people with dementia and their carers to meet in a social environment in a local base: to give the person with dementia and their carer an opportunity for friendship, continued access to social life and to have enjoyment in life.

The Clubs are run by volunteers, and this will hopefully integrate the people with dementia and their carers into the local community.

The idea is that friendships will grow and thus as the carer becomes more and more isolated they will have someone to phone to talk to or meet for a cup of tea.

What do we do in the Clubs? Games, dominoes, arts and crafts, snooker, quizzes and trips...one trip already to St Fagan's.

Our clear objective is to make life as enjoyable as possible for both the person with dementia and their carer.

Already we have been told by one gentleman that his wife repeats everything over and over again so the opportunity of coming to the Gorseinon club is his opportunity to have a chat whilst his wife talks to the other women. Another lady who comes to the Killay Club says that her only conversation during the week is when they attend the Club.

Some of the clubs members have become such good friends that they have started meeting up privately at other times of the week.

We already have several clubs up and running, with more on the way!

Please see our Clubs Near You page.

We are a Registered Charity (Number: 1143961) and the registered office is in Siloam Church, Killay. As the clubs are now registered they can do collections and apply for grants.
